Responsibilities of the role.

As an Engineering / General Assistant with Lancaster Engines Limited, you will be working in our new workshops alongside a specialist team who refurbish Combustion Engines from a wide variety of applications such as Passenger Vehicle, Marine, Motor Cycle, Agricultural, HGV, Vintage and Plant Machinery. You will assist qualified engineers in machining processes on customer based projects and will also be expected to support any other aspect of the business to ensure its continued development and efficient operation.

Desired work experience.

No formal work experience is required for this role however, some experience in the use of hand tools and a general aptitude for working with your hands would benefit your application. The position would suit a school leaver.

What you will need.

To apply for this position you will ideally have 3 GCSEs including English, Maths and a Science based subject. The role includes an element of manual labour and will be demanding at times, you will therefore require a reasonable degree of physical fitness.

Career Prospects.

There are good career prospects for the right candidate and this role could lead to a formal Engineering Apprenticeship and recognised qualification.

About the apprenticeship

As an Apprentice Engineer with Lancaster Engines Limited, you will be working in our new workshops with a team of highly skilled, dedicated employees.  You’ll be part of a team that recondition, machine and repair Internal Combustion Engines from a wide range of applications such as Passenger Car, Marine, Motorcycle, Agricultural, HGV, Vintage, Plant and Stationary engines.

You will be using hand tools and specialist machinery associated with engine refurbishment and learn a wide range of tasks whilst working on customer based projects.  This could include dismantling a large diesel engine and preparing the block for cylinder boring or replacement liners.  It is anticipated that you will also receive classroom-based training to help support your learning in the workshop.

With the qualifications and experience you will have gained in our Engineering Apprenticeship, you could become a specialist engine re-builder in petrol and diesel engines

You will be earning a salary from day one, gaining real work experience and working towards qualifications at the same time.
